Round 17 Review

Netball Report

Round 15 V Chelsea Heights was another windy match which has seemed to become the norm and so Hampton played to those conditions. Short sharp passes were necessary through the mid court by Sarah, Angela and Mikaela. Abby our star shooter fell early to an ankle injury. Melissa and Angela filled that position without hesitation.  With a half time score of 12-8,we were determined to maintain our lead in the second half. Nina in defence proved to be a key player in defence, with many intercepts.  Tamanna in WD turned defence into attack multiple times to extend our lead to 21-9, winning us the game. Erin proved her range as goal shooter scoring 14 goals!! Melissa also scored 7. A fitting end to the season and we hope to come back stronger in 2018.

19s Report

The 19s travelled to Hallam and whilst we were down on numbers we didn’t lack spirit and there were some encouraging signs for the next home game. It all starts at training this week. Best on the day were Eckers, Diggaz, Dornau, Bunna, Selbst & Super Smithy.

Ressies

From the OX- Our skipper won the toss to kick with the aid of the breeze/tornado. We started well kicking efficiently(except for over the man on the mark-MK)and our mids gave us first use of the ball to take a 2 goal lead into the first break. The second quarter saw our back 6 stand up and with our mids hard at it we took a 10 point lead into the main break. Kicking well in the third saw us take a 6 goal lead which we were able to increase to 40 points into the wind thanks to some clever ball use in the last quarter. Andy Hunter gave us a contest every time up forward to finish with 3 goals.

Seniors

We also kicked with the wind first up and had the majority of the play but we couldn’t find a target up forward which Beena did in the 2nd qtr and we trailed by 20 points at the main break. We came out firing in the second half but with only a 7 point lead going into the last it proved the damage was done. To our credit we fought tooth and nail and were right in the game to the final siren to lose by 2 kicks. Chevvy was tenacious up forward whilst Zanca, Gizza, Hayesy, Gunda and Gassy all had plenty of the ball.
