The Hampton Hammers Netball Team was born in 2013 and joined the Springvale Districts Netball Association through the Southern Football Netball League.Since its inception in 2013, the club has maintained one team and have been a competitive force since its existence.
Kerrie Thornhill was the driving force/pioneer of the netball club and ensured its existence with signing on as Coach in 2014. It was at this time that the Hampton Hammers Football Club, officially changed its name to the Hampton Hammers Football Netball Club, which saw netball included in the clubs yearly program. The netball club continued to grow and the importance of the Saturday afternoon netball game was paramount with the Senior Footballers.
2015 saw a changing of the guard with a new coach in Jess Murphy and the loss of a number of girls. Never-the-less, the club pushed forward with its team but lack of numbers by season end saw the team finish the season with 3 wins.
Millie Billings joined the team in late 2016 with Cassandra Hughes as Captain. The year got off to a tough start with virtually a brand new team, the ladies took some time to get going but finally got their first (and only) win for the year with a gutsy 8 goal win in Round 8. That was the only success the ladies for the 2016 season tasted with a total of 8 games lost by<4 goals in a very frustrating but enjoyable year for the new look team. Cassandra Hughes also scored a record ‘32’ goals in a single game for the team which was one of the highlights for the year!
The Hampton Hammers Football Netball Club appointed Joe Feruccio for Season 2017 which looks like the biggest year in the clubs history with two teams to headline for the club in the SDNA competition. The club will look to continue to grow and expand further as the years progress.
